The police officer Frank also appears in the program.

Reviews

Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times on April 7, 2006 that the film tells three quiet, sad stories; the end of one of the stories is open. They were stories about people who would find that weapons in the hands of other people would make life almost impossible. All three stories ask how a meaningful life is possible in a society in which many people can be armed.

Joe Leydon wrote in Variety magazine on November 7, 2005 that the film was slow-paced and dramatically diffuse, which made it a failure. He lacks a focus and the momentum to connect the three stories. The strong cast could attract video viewers, but not the cinema audience. The most interesting are the scenes with Marcia Gay Harden and Chris Marquette; they could have been made into a separate film.

Awards

Ted Kroeber in the Best Picture category and Forest Whitaker and Marcia Gay Harden as actors were nominated for the Independent Spirit Award in 2007.

background

The film had its world premiere on September 15, 2005 at the Toronto International Film Festival . It was shown in individual cinemas in the USA, where it grossed around 24,000 US dollars .
