Nancy Schreiber
Nancy J. Schreiber (born June 27, 1949 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American camerawoman .
Life
Nancy J. Schreiber studied art history and psychology at the University of Michigan . During this time she worked in a cinema for foreign films. She developed an interest in filmmaking, so after moving to New York City, she took two months of classes with Jim Pasternak. Through the independent film she met Bobby Vercruse, who she hired from then on as an assistant for his projects. With his help, as well as that of Mark Obenhaus and Arthur Albert , Schreiber began to borrow material to make their own films. As a result, she managed to switch from the lighting to the camera system.
As a camerawoman for a feature film, Schreiber made his debut in 1991 with the thriller Kiss Me a Killer directed by Marcus DeLeon . For her camera work on Im Swirl of Desire , she was nominated for Best Cinematography at the 1994 Independent Spirit Awards . She received an Emmy nomination for her work on The Celluloid Closet - Trapped in the Dream Factory .
In 2017 Schreiber received the ASC President's Award .
