Girls Club - be careful! (Original title: Mean Girls ) is a comedy film from 2004. It was written by Tina Fey . Directed by Mark Waters played Lindsay Lohan starring. The film was produced by Paramount Pictures .

action

16-year-old Cady Heron has spent her previous life in Africa . Her parents and zoologists gave her home schooling there . After her mother receives a job offer at Northwestern University , the family moves to Evanston , Ill. Cady has to go to public school for the first time in her life.

Her first friends at North Shore High School are the openly gay and sarcastic Damian and the artistically gifted, quick-witted Janis. You assign the insecure Cady to the world of American high school . In this way they explain the clearly divided groups at their school (e.g. “athletes”, “cool Asians”, “ burnouts ” etc.).

Soon Cady comes into contact with a gang called The Plastics . They include the three most popular girls in the school: blonde, simple-knit Karen Smith; Gretchen Wieners, the daughter of a self-employed entrepreneur (who invented the "Toaster Strudel" popular in the USA) , who is always excellently informed about the secrets of others , and the initially friendly school diva Regina George. The three girls invite Cady to their cafeteria table, which is reserved for them because of their position in school society, and shortly thereafter offer her membership of the clique. Cady is skeptical at first, but Damian and Janis encourage them to ingratiate themselves with the three of them in order to reveal the secrets of the Plastics to them or to make fun of the trio. Cady later learns that Janis is in personal conflict with Regina. In middle school , Janis and Regina were best friends until Regina made her first boyfriend and Janis felt neglected. Regina concluded that Janis was a lesbian, whereupon she dumped her from a birthday party by the in-house pool, which resulted in a furious phone call from her friend's mother. She then spread Janis' alleged homosexuality in school until the girl left (since no one spoke to her anymore) and only returned to her current art punk look during high school . Cady wants to help her friends fight Regina and agrees to play the spy.

Cady dives into the shiny world of superficialities and high society through the plastics , but she also has to experience more and more hostility between the girls and others. Above all, she gets to know Regina's world, as well as her pseudo-youthful mother, who cares for Regina but often embarrasses her, which irritates Regina, who is already tyrannical. In addition, the girls present her the “Burn Book”, a photo album in which they have cut out photos of all the girls of the year from a yearbook and written derogatory comments on those shown.

Cady falls in love with a boy from her math class, whom Gretchen and Karen identify as Regina's ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels. They advise her, according to all the rules of friendship among girls, not to go into his environment or to flirt with him.

Regina learns about Cady's feelings from Gretchen and, contrary to expectations, suggests that they convey them to him for her. Cady is thrilled that she is still struggling with shyness. At a Halloween party, she speaks briefly to Aaron, who has taken a liking to her, before Regina speaks to him shortly afterwards. During the conversation Regina realizes that Aaron seems to have developed feelings for Cady. Gripped by jealousy, she breaks her promise without further ado and portrays Aaron Cady as a mixture of a little girl in love and a pathological stalker who, among other things, appears on her school notepad with “Mrs. Aaron Samuels "is said to have written down, and according to Regina wears a T-shirt with" I <3 Aaron "under all of her clothes. She also explains that Cady stole a cotton swab he used and that he wants to practice some kind of African voodoo ritual with it .

Aaron is appalled what Regina takes advantage of and explains to him that she can understand Cady, describes him as "hot" and asks not to make fun of Cady, who, according to her, is severely disturbed, as they are friends. When Aaron makes this promise, she kisses him. Surprised that Regina had left him at the time, Aaron takes her back. Offended, Cady leaves the party and stops at Damian and Janis, who are watching horror films in the attic of the latter's house that evening. Cady is ready to make Regina's life hell.

In the days that followed, Regina played with Cady's feelings by constantly touching them in Aaron's presence or doing something similar to humiliate them. Cady strikes back: on Janis' advice, she swaps Regina's face lotion for a foot cream (the smell factor is mentioned) and sells her mother's diet-obsessed Regina special chocolate bars, which she distributes to children in Africa so that they can gain body weight as diet bars. Regina is gaining weight as desired and is also mentally worse. She appears increasingly depressed and aggressive than usual. She also comes into conflict with Gretchen and Karen, partly because of Cady’s help - also because she treats them badly and picks them up in the presence of others.

Janis and Damian demand that Cady take another step against Regina: she should turn Aaron away from her. Through Gretchen, who was deeply offended by Regina's behavior towards her, she learns that she has entered into a secret relationship with the athlete Shane Oman. To bring some fruitless attempts Aaron to the two in the act to catch, Cady finally told him about the affair his girlfriend. Aaron breaks up with Regina, which hurts, but doesn't stop her from being open about her relationship with Shane.

Aaron doesn't want a relationship with Cady as she has taken over the behavior of Plastics. Cady is offended. She turns away from Damian and Janis, trying to maintain her disguise. It comes to an argument with her friends, whereby it becomes clear that Cady is not just pretending - she has become a real plastic .

Regina learns from Shane, who recognizes the chocolate bars that she now eats all the time, of their weight-increasing effect. In a fit of rage, she authorizes the "Burn Book" and expands it with her own photo (which at the beginning showed Cady and she cut off her friend during this action), comments on it in the usual insulting and hurtful way for the book and hands it over it to the head of Northern Shore High School, Mr. Duvall. She poses as a victim and accuses Cady, Gretchen, and Karen of authoring the book.

Mr. Duvall speaks to the girls but keeps the matter under wraps. That is not enough for Regina and she copies the pages of the Burn Book before she secretly distributes the finished copies everywhere during a break from school.

At school, the book caused a sensation and anger among the girls at school, until Mrs. Norbury asks both the plastics and the less popular girls, who humiliated and tortured each other before the "Burn Book" appeared, to come to terms with each other to apologize for any hostility they have ever expressed against one another. Janis also testifies and finally, after Regina dropped a derogatory remark about Janis' alleged homosexuality shortly before her apology speech, reveals her whole plan, including Cady's role in it.

The girls of the year celebrate Janis after she sarcastically confesses to Regina that she only did all this because she was in love with her, as a heroine, whereupon Regina leaves the building.

Cady runs after her and tries to talk to her, but Regina gets furious again, insults Cady and tells her not to act so innocent until a school bus hits her.

Regina survived the accident, but had to wear a spinal corset at the next school ball . As a result of the accident, her body weight falls back to normal.

Cady has had enough of being a Plastic and decides to wipe it clean. She claims to have written the Burn Book on her own and apologizes to all classmates she injured, including Mrs. Norbury, whose entry in the book even resulted in a drug search in her home. Mrs. Norbury forgives her and gives her an option as a personal "punishment" to improve her grade. She suggests that Cady join the school's math team, the "Mathleten", whose team she had shown interest in earlier during the film because math is her favorite subject, but she's denied membership by joining Plastics who viewed this as a social suicide. Since Cady is very good at math, she even wins the state math championship with them, but is house arrested on the night of the school ball for her behavior.

Because her father doesn't know what “ house arrest ” means, Cady is allowed to go to the school ball to which she drives the “mathletes” and in which she and her team take part as a “mathlete” in her team jacket. She is elected the prom queen. Her parents, who followed her, are also present. Cady gives a speech in which she mentions that not only the respectable upper class of the students, but everyone at the ball is beautiful in their own way. She also says that she does not understand the fuss surrounding this plastic crown and demonstratively breaks it. Candy throws the individual parts of the crown into the crowd and distributes pieces to the other candidates (Janis, Regina and Gretchen) so that everyone can be the prom king on this evening . Her parents then forgive her, and Aaron also recognizes her good core, so that they get closer again.

Shortly afterwards, the Plastics split up to go their own way. Regina's injury heals and she joins the lacrosse team to productively process her anger. She makes new friends as the girls on the team are not afraid of her. Karen finds a new job and from then on announces the weather forecast for the school's film team (it was mentioned that her breasts can sense when it rains, as it turns out, apparently very precisely). Gretchen joins the "Cool Asians".

Cady is now a normal person (like many students, the hierarchy seems to have been removed) and continues to be on good terms with Damian and Janis. Janis has also found a boyfriend in the athlete Kevin Gnapoor. Aaron is attending Northwestern University in Evanston so they can still see each other regularly. At the end of the film, three young versions of Plastics appear, which are shortly afterwards captured by a bus. The latter turns out to be a humorous fantasy of Cady.

They are the ones who are laughing. Young girls watch it like a reality show. It's much too close to their real experiences so they are not exactly guffawing ).
