Blossom is a comedy - TV series about half-hour episodes. In the United States it was broadcast on NBC from 1990 to 1995 . In Germany, the first broadcast was on December 5, 1994 in Das Erste .
action
The series is about Blossom Russo ( Mayim Bialik ), a teenage girl who lives with her father and two brothers.
The series begins with Blossom's mother leaving the family as she cannot reconcile her own life and career with the family. In the further course, the life of the family is shown, which, as usual with sitcoms , does not follow a large plan of action.
One of the hallmarks of the series are the recurring serious episodes in which humor was put on hold in favor of depicting a social problem (violence against women, drug problems, etc.).
The film
The dramaturgical climax of the series led to a film that is about Blossom visiting her mother in Paris . The plot of this film is integrated into the series, and the product can be viewed as a longer episode with different locations and a higher budget .
The figures
Blossom
At the start of the series, Blossom is 13 years old. A key trait is their unusual intelligence, which contrasts with that of the other members of their family. Blossom sometimes gets good advice on solving her problems from famous characters in fantasy scenes.
Nick
Blossom's father, Nick ( Ted Wass ), is divorced and a single father. He is a musician by profession and tries to find time for his family between gigs, recordings and tours.
Tony
Anthony, or Tony ( Michael Stoyanov ) for short , is Blossom's older brother. A topic that is often taken up is that he has overcome drug addiction. He gets married in a later season. Stoyanov left the series early to become a writer on Late Night with Conan O'Brien , which he later regretted.
Joey
Joey ( Joey Lawrence ), the other brother, is the least intelligent member of the family, making it a key comedy factor. His role was not originally intended as a supporting role, but he quickly developed into a crowd favorite, whereupon the scriptwriters put him more in the spotlight.
Six
Six LeMeure ( Jenna von Oÿ ) is Blossom's best friend, with whom she discusses everything. Her name is explained in the pilot film in such a way that when her father found out that he had had a daughter, he first went to the gas station and bought a six-pack to drown his "luck". The name for the character Six came from the inventor of the series. His son went to school with a girl named Seven. He just pulled a number and Jenna von Oÿ got her series name. (This is also explained in an episode of Blossom, in which the actors talk about their characters, each introducing their own favorite scene.)
Carol
Nick meets Carol ( Finola Hughes ) at the beginning of the fourth season and marries her. The British ex-wife of a Scottish millionaire brings her baby daughter Kennedy into the marriage. Initially, Blossom rejects her father's new wife and daughter, but eventually accepts her father's choice. In the penultimate episode, Carol announces that she is expecting a baby from Nick.
Shelley
The children's book illustrator Shelley ( Samaria Graham ) becomes - more by chance - Anthony's wife after they met while they were drunk in Las Vegas. They only fall in love after the wedding and have a son, Nash Metropolitan (named after the car in which the child was born). Shelley is colored, which is often discussed in the series.
kennedy
Kennedy ( Courtney Chase ) is Carol's little daughter and becomes a bright stepsister after their wedding to Blossoms.
Vinnie
Vincent 'Vinnie' Bonitardi ( David Lascher ) is Blossom's first great love and has been her boyfriend for a long time. Nick doesn't like him because he has a dubious reputation for past crimes and alcohol abuse.
