Sheena Easton
Sheena Easton (* 27. April 1959 in Bellshill , Scotland as Sheena Shirley Orr ) is a British singer and actress . She is a two-time Grammy Award winner. Her best-known recordings include Morning Train (9 to 5) , number one in the US charts in 1981 , and For Your Eyes Only from the James Bond film of the same name .
Life
Sheena Easton graduated from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She made her breakthrough in England with The Big Time (Esther Rantzen) produced by the BBC . There are three recordings of her audition at EMI Records on an HMV Easy Sampler ( I've Got the Music in Me , Feelings and You Light Up My Life ). Her first single, Modern Girl , became a moderate hit. The single 9 to 5 was a huge hit in 1980 and stayed at number 1 on the US charts for two weeks . 1981 Easton contributed with For Your Eyes Only, the theme song to the James Bond film In Deadly Mission (original title: For Your Eyes Only ).
Easton's musical highlights were the albums A Private Heaven (1984) and The Lover in Me (1988), for which Prince composed some songs. She also sang some songs with him in a duet, e.g. B. U Got the Look (1987) and The Arms of Orion (1989). Together they composed for the 1989 album Be Yourself by Patti LaBelle titled Love '89 . In 1981 and 1984 Easton was awarded a Grammy each . In 2004 she was honored in the "Las Vegas Casino Legends Hall of Fame".
Musically it has been quieter around the singer since 2000 ( Fabulous ). However, she occasionally appears at gay pride events and music festivals. In Germany, she is best known for her guest role in Miami Vice alongside Don Johnson . In 2008 she made her first appearance outside the United States.
In 1979 she married Sandi Easton. The marriage lasted only eight months, but Orr kept the name Sheena Easton. She has been a US citizen since 1992 . Easton adopted a boy (Jake) in 1994 and a girl (Skylar) in 1996. Her marriages to Rob Light (1984), Tim Delarm (1996) and John Minoli (2003) also broke up after just a few months. Sheena Easton is hugely successful as a collector's doll maker and businesswoman, and is widely recognized as one of the richest women from Scotland.
Since March 2017 she can be seen as Dorothy Brock in London's West End in the musical 42nd Street .
