9 to 5 (also Morning Train (9 to 5) ) is a song by Sheena Easton from 1980, written by Florrie Palmer and produced by Christopher Neil. It appeared on the album Take My Time .

history

Before 9 to 5 Sheena Easton released the song Modern Girl , which missed the highest chart positions. For her album Take My Time , which was simply called Sheena Easton in the United States , five singles were released in 1981. Two of them were in the top 10 at the same time - Ruby Murray had previously achieved this feat in 1955. This marketing strategy made 9 to 5 sell best and thus became one of the best-selling singles in 1981.

The song was released in Europe on May 16, 1980, and in the United States, the song hit the charts in February 1981. Before that, Dolly Parton released the song 9 to 5 in the United States and to avoid confusion, the song appeared there under the title Morning Train (Nine to Five) . Both songs made it to number 1 in the United States and Canada . Sheena Easton's pop song was also a number one hit in Australia and New Zealand . The song is about a woman who waits all day for her husband to come home.
