James Mackay (2012)

James Mackay (born July 20, 1984 ) is an Australian actor in theater, film and television. He played roles in films such as In der Haut von Venice , Skin Deep , The Dressmaker and The Lovers .

life and career

James Mackay, born in 1984, first studied at the University of Sydney , where he did his Bachelor of Arts in history and English literature . This was followed by an acting training at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth . Mackay had previously worked on school productions at Sydney Grammar School and began his acting career in two short films in 2008. In 2010 he made his movie debut in the horror thriller Don't Be Afraid of the Dark , directed by Troy Nixey. In the next few years she was involved in film productions such as In der Haut von Venice , Headhunt , Skin Deep , The Dressmaker by director Jocelyn Moorhouse and the film drama The Lovers by director Roland Joffé .

On TV, he appeared as an actor in various TV films and TV series, including five episodes of the crime series The Straits in 2012 and two episodes of the science fiction series The Tomorrow People in 2014 . In addition to his work in film and television, James Mackay has also been active in the theater since 2009. Among other things, he was an artistic collaborator for the independent theater group Cry Havoc. In 2012 Mackay starred with the Sydney Theater Company in the role of Danceny in Dangerous Liaisons alongside Hugo Weaving . In 2013 he was seen in the Alan Bennett performance of The History Boys at the Sydney Opera House.

In June 2013, James Mackay was the recipient of the fifth Australian Film Heath Ledger Grant.
