The Tomorrow People is an American science fiction - and mystery - television series by Roger Price with Robbie Amell , Luke Mitchell and Peyton List in the lead roles. It is a remake of the British TV channel ITV's series of the same name from the 1970s. The series consists of one season and 22 episodes and was produced from 2013 to 2014 by Berlanti Productions, FremantleMedia North America and Warner Bros. Television for the broadcaster The CW . The series follows a group of young people who have special supernatural abilities and thus reach the next level of evolution. It premiered in the United States on October 9, 2013, following Arrow on The CW.
action
The series follows a group of young people who, through natural mutations, have developed special skills such as teleportation, telepathy or telekinesis, the three Ts , and who are fighting a government organization called Ultra .
Stephen Jameson is a tormented soul because he believes he is not normal. His good friend Astrid, who is in love with him, is very worried about Stephen after he stopped drug treatment for his apparent mental health problems. After Cara, who is a telepath and teleporter, mentally contacted him, Stephen realizes that he belongs to a group of special people, the Tomorrow People . Another member of the Tomorrow People is John Young. Dark, attractive and cool John has the teleportation ability that all other Tomorrow People can do, but he is without a doubt the most capable in this field. He's also very good at attracting other people to the group.
The team meets the scientist Dr. Jedikiah Price and his organization Ultra . Price believes the Tomorrow People are a threat to humanity. He does everything he can to contain the threat posed by the mutants and does not shy away from killing the Tomorrow People , who themselves lack the ability to kill. Jedikiah turns out to be Stephen's uncle; he begins working as a double agent for Ultra while continuing to support the Tomorrow People and discover skills that go beyond the three Ts . It also turns out that Stephen's father, who disappeared in his early childhood, was apparently the leader of the Tomorrow People and was working on a better future for them before he disappeared. John tries to live up to this example and does everything to ensure the survival of his people.

History of origin
In November 2012, it was announced that Greg Berlanti and Julie Plec were working to rewrite the British science fiction series Tomorrow People for American television. The original series was shown in the United Kingdom between 1973 and 1979 ; According to their own statements, Berlanti and Plec also count among the following of the British series. For over a decade, the two producers had tried to acquire the rights to the series; In 2012 they were awarded the contract by FremantleMedia . Allegedly, FremantleMedia is said to have made an exception because the production company does not normally license their products. In January 2013 the broadcaster The CW commissioned a pilot episode. On May 10, 2013, the broadcaster gave the project the green light and ordered a first season with 13 episodes. On November 11, 2013, the first season was increased by nine episodes, so that the first season came to 22 episodes.
In May 2014, The CW announced the discontinuation of the series after the first season.
Casting
The first leading role was given to Peyton List in February 2013 . A few days later the central lead role was cast with Robbie Amell . On the same day, Luke Mitchell was hired for the role of John Young , which also existed in the original series. On February 25, 2013, Mark Pellegrino was cast in the role of the scientist Jedikiah Price . In October, Alexa Vega was hired to play Hillary Cole , who becomes Stephen's rival. In December 2013, it was announced that Nicholas Young , who played the role of John Young in the original series, had received a supporting role in the remake.

reception
“A thoroughly entertaining start to a series with a fascinating premise. The question will now be: What will The Tomorrow People do with it? Will the series get tangled up in the Tomorrow People of the Week scrub with Stephen at Ultras? Or will it be possible to tell an ambivalent science fiction story about the coexistence of two human species on this planet? "
