action
On September 17, 2014, a spaceship with residents of the planet Atria crashed to earth. Believing this to be an invasion, people rounded up the survivors and isolated them in a militarized sector. Ten years later, the integration of seven Atrians, the so-called Atrian 7 , into a high school is supposed to improve the relationship between humans and aliens. But people and Atrians continue to distrust each other. So-called Red Hawks have organized themselves among the people who fight against the integration of the aliens, while on the side of the Atrians a tribe, the Trags , are secretly planning to wipe out humanity.
At school, the Atrian Roman meets the human girl Emery, who saved his life when he arrived ten years ago. Romantic feelings develop between the two. While most of the school rejects the Atrians, Emery is openly committed to integration. When Emery's father, a guard in the military sector, accidentally shoots Roman's father, tensions arise. Since Roman wants to protect Emery, he stays away from her. Emery then begins a relationship with Grayson, whose parents are the secret leaders of the Red Hawks. When this becomes public, Grayson's mother is arrested and the Red Hawks are crushed. Shortly thereafter, Emery breaks up with him to be with Roman. Grayson then founds the new Red Hawks, who want to take action against the Trags, but not against peaceful Atrians.
Roman's father, Nox, who peacefully campaigned for the integration of the Atrians, had a secret child, half Atrian, half human, in integration officer Gloria Garcia. Some Trags live outside the military sector and have had their tattoos, which distinguish the Atrians from humans, removed. The Atrians live in symbiosis with a plant called cyper . The plant grows from deceased Atrians and has a healing effect in conjunction with Atrian blood. So that the Atrians don't end up as laboratory rats, they try to keep this a secret. But since Roman has healed Emery's terminally ill girlfriend, Julia, with Cyper, this secret is in danger. Meanwhile, the Trags try to cultivate Black Cyper, a type of cyper that has deadly spores for humans in order to destroy humanity.
There are also trags under the Atrian 7 at times. At first Drake is a member of the Trags, but he separates from them and begins a secret relationship with the human-girl Taylor, who becomes pregnant by him. The Trags build a Suvek , a device that is supposed to lead to the destruction of humanity. Roman, Drake, Grayson and Emery try in vain to stop the Suvek. Eventually the Suvek sends out an impulse that makes people collapse as if lifeless. The Suvek is not a bomb, however, but sends a blue beam into the sky, which is discovered by the Atrian warships, which are now heading towards Earth.

On February 9, 2013, the cast of Aimee Teegardens in the lead role as Emery was announced. Malese Jow and Titus Makin Jr. were signed a few weeks later. In early March 2013, the role of the alien boy was awarded to Matt Lanter . That same day, Gray Damon got his role in the format.
On May 9, 2013, the station announced the production of a first season under the name Star-Crossed .
