Lead-in (entertainment media)

Lead-in is a term used in the US television industry. It describes the fact that the viewers of a television program serve as a viewer supplier for the following program. Popular lead-in shows are, for example, television shows with a large audience, such as American Idol or The Voice , which serve as lead-in for subsequent television series.

The counterpart to lead-in is called lead-out .
