Michael Katleman

Michael Katleman (born June 30, 1950 in  Los Angeles , California ) is an American film and television director and producer .

life and work

Michael Katleman works mainly as a television director. He began his career as an assistant director in films such as the comedy Jumpin 'Jack Flash with Whoopie Goldberg , the science fiction thriller Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger and the biography of Ritchie Valens La Bamba . He made his directorial debut in 1990 on the critically acclaimed TV drama series China Beach, which is about the Vietnam War.

After directing a number of episodes of well-known television series (including Quantum Leap, X-Files, Northern Exposure, ER), he also acted as executive producer on other series (including Gilmore Girls , Tru Calling - Schicksal reloaded! ). He also directed the two hour finale of Steven Spielberg's science fiction miniseries Taken .

He became known to a wider audience in 2017 through his feature film debut Die Fährte des Grauens (Primeval). The horror film is about a man-eating giant alligator. In an interview, he said that he was not limited to genres, but that it was important to him to be able to connect with the material that the respective story offers.

After his foray into the cinema horror genre, he continued working as a television director and executive producer on series such as Life on Mars , Memphis Beat and Eastwick , which is based on John Updike's novel The Witches of Eastwick . In the 2010s, the crime series Rizzoli & Isles as well as The Last Ship and the animal horror series Zoo based on the novel by James Patterson came in this double function .
