history

After the Yugoslav national soccer team lost the last game in the European Championship qualification against Germany in 1992, the team was excluded from the current competition because of the civil war in Yugoslavia. It then took more than three years until an international match was played again on August 19, 1995 in Pristina, which was still part of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia . They won 3-2 against neighboring Bulgaria . By August 23, 2002, the team played 50 international matches as the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, but could not qualify for a European or World Cup or the Olympic Games. From 2003 to 2006, 20 games followed as Serbia & Montenegro, although this team did not succeed in qualifying either.
