The Maltese national women's football team represents Malta in international women's football . The national team is subordinate to the Maltese Football Association and is coached by Pierre Brincat. The Maltese selection is one of the weakest national teams in Europe. So far, the Maltese selection has only won four international matches. In qualifying for the 2011 World Cup , the team met Spain , England , Austria and Turkey . Malta played against a German-speaking team for the first time on November 18, 2009 in the game against Austria. All games were lost and in the end Malta finished last in the table. Malta has also not yet qualified for the Olympic football tournaments.

In the pre-qualification for the EM 2013 , the team could not use the home advantage at the tournament in Malta and only finished second in the group. As a result, the actual qualification was missed.

In contrast, the team was able to use the home advantage in the pre-qualification for the 2015 World Cup and qualify for the actual qualification. From September 2013, the Maltese women will meet Denmark , Iceland , Switzerland , Serbia and Israel . So far Malta has only played once against Switzerland, but not yet against the other group opponents.

At the start of the FIFA World Ranking, Malta was ranked 74th, the best to date. After losing the first 13 international matches, Malta fell to 113th in December 2006. Currently - after an interim increase to 86th place in December 2009 - rank 103 is due to the fact that other teams returned to the ranking.
