Diadora is an Italian sporting goods manufacturer based in Caerano di San Marco near Treviso and a subsidiary of the Italian fashion company Geox .
history
The company was founded in 1948 by Marcello Danieli. Since Danieli was a shoemaker , the company specialized in the manufacture of shoes. In the 1950s, Diadora was the Italian leader in mountain boots.
In the 1960s the company started producing ski boots . Inventions like the first après-ski shoe followed. Next, running shoes were made, and shortly afterwards tennis shoes.
Through the 1970s, the technology of the shoes was continuously improved in cooperation with athletes such as Guillermo Vilas , Martin Mulligan and Björn Borg . Around 1975 the company entered the soccer market. With the support of players like Roberto Bettega , the brand became number three in the US football kit market.
Diadora has been part of the Invicta Group since June 30, 1998 .
Diadora was the supplier to Bradford City football club , but was fired in 2004 after a pan-European commercial that caused horror.
In 2008 a joint venture was entered into with Hanverky Holdings Limited. So a new company called Winor International was founded.
