The Kocher-Jagst-Radweg is a 333 km long cycle path that runs along the Kocher and Jagst rivers in Baden-Württemberg . The two rivers are only a few kilometers apart.
route
The signposted route leads along the Kocher from Aalen via Gaildorf to Schwäbisch Hall (64 km) through the Obere Kochertal, from Schwäbisch Hall then via Künzelsau and Neuenstadt am Kocher to Bad Friedrichshall (82 km) through the Hohenloher Kochertal and the Unterland . From Bad Friedrichshall the route goes along the Jagst via Neudenau , Möckmühl , Krautheim , Langenburg and Kirchberg an der Jagst to Crailsheim (119 km) through the Unterland, the "knightly Jagsttal" and the Hohenloher Jagsttal and from Crailsheim via Ellwangen and parts of the Ostalb back to Aalen (68 km).
The paths are mostly asphalted (bicycle) paths, some are forest paths. The gradients are mostly low to medium steep. Only in a few places there are steeper slopes. Between Bad Friedrichshall and Ohrnberg the route runs on the route of the disused Untere Kochertalbahn , above Möckmühl it runs partly on the route of the former Jagsttalbahn .
The marking is carried out by signs with a green bicycle on a white background (often with a destination).
The Kocher cycle path in itself is a popular excursion destination, especially with older cyclists, as it can be mainly driven downhill and at approx. 135 km is significantly shorter than the entire circular path.
The ADFC awarded the Kocher-Jagst-Radweg 2018 a 4-star quality cycle route.
