The women's national soccer team of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics represented the Soviet Union in international women's soccer . The national team was subordinate to the Federacija Futbola SSSR and played 28 games between 1990 and 1992, five of them as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), which replaced the Soviet Union in December 1991. Until 1991, the Soviet team only played friendly matches. The first European qualifying game against Hungary in October 1991 is counted as Russia by FIFA, while FIFA counts the following five games for the Soviet Union. Since the members of the CIS have been competing as independent countries since 1992, the games are only listed by FIFA in the statistics of the Russian team , which played their first game, the second leg against Hungary as part of the European Championship qualification on May 17, 1992.
