The 2001 Algarve Cup was the eighth edition of the annual tournament for women's national football teams and took place between March 11th and 17th, 2001 in the Portuguese Algarve . The Swedish team won the tournament ahead of Denmark and China .

Tournament course

The eight participating teams were divided into two groups and met in a round-robin tournament . In the final round that followed, the fourth, third and second group players played for seventh, fifth and third places, and the group winners in the final for the tournament victory.
