Karolina Westberg

Karolina Westberg (born May 16, 1978 in Kristianstad ) is a Swedish football player. The defender plays for the Swedish club Umeå IK in Damallsvenskan and in the Swedish national team .

Career

Westberg started playing soccer at Skillinge IF . In 1999 she moved to Malmö FF Dam . She played here until 2004 before moving to Umeå IK. With her new club, she won the Swedish championship in 2006 and 2007. She also played in the finals of the 2006/07 UEFA Women's Cup . The duel against Arsenal LFC was ultimately lost.

Westberg made her debut shortly after her 19th birthday on May 21, 1997 in a 2-0 victory over the Russian national team in the Swedish national team. She took part in the 1999 World Cup and reached the 2003 tournament with the selection of the final, which the Swedish team lost to Germany . She was also part of the squad at the 2007 World Cup , but was only used in the 1: 2 defeat against North Korea . She also took part in the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games .
