The Algarve Cup 2000 was the seventh edition of the annual tournament for women's national football teams and took place between March 12 and 18, 2000 in the Portuguese Algarve . The USA team won the tournament ahead of record winners Norway and defending champions China .

Participating teams

Eight teams took part in the invitation tournament in 2000. First-time participants are marked in italics .

Tournament course

The eight participating teams were divided into two groups and met in a round-robin tournament . In the final round that followed, the fourth, third and second group players played for seventh, fifth and third places, and the group winners in the final for the tournament victory.
