Solveig Ingersdatter Gulbrandsen (born January 12, 1981 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian soccer player . With a total of 183 internationals, she has played the second-most internationals for Norway behind Hege Riise and ahead of Bente Nordby and scored a total of 55 goals, making her the fifth best Norwegian goalscorer.

Career

The midfielder played for Kolbotn IL and the Norwegian national team from 1998 to 2008 . She then played for Stabæk Fotball from 2009 to 2010 and two games for FC Gold Pride in the WPS . From 2012 she played for Vålerenga Oslo .

She is one of the best players in her country. On June 17, 1998 she played for the first time for the Norwegian selection. The opponent at the time was the German national team . Two years later she won at the Olympic Games in Sydney , the Gold Medal, which she was the youngest player in the Norwegian squad. In 2008 she also took part in the Olympic Games in Beijing , but dropped out there in the quarterfinals.

Gulbrandsen took part with the Norwegian women's national team at the European Championships in Germany in 2001 , England in 2005 and Finland in 2009 and made 14 appearances at these tournaments. She and her team reached the semi-finals twice and the final once, in which they failed against the German team.

In 1999 (as the youngest player in the Norwegian squad), 2003 and 2007 she took part with Norway in the World Cup tournaments in the USA and China, where she made a total of 14 appearances. She is the youngest Norwegian player to score in a World Cup. At the age of 18 years and 162 days, she made it 7-1 in a 7-1 victory over Canada in 1999 as a substitute in the 87th minute.

At the 2011 World Cup, in which Norway was eliminated in the group stage for the first time, she did not take part due to her second pregnancy, after she still played a decisive role in qualifying and scored the 2-0 in the second playoff game against Ukraine .

After a two-year break, she came back to the European Championship qualifiers against Belgium and Iceland on September 15 and 19, 2012 .

In 2013 she took part in the finals of the European Women's Football Championship for the fourth time . Despite the poor results of the Norwegian team in preparation, which therefore did not belong to the circle of favorites, they reached the final against Germany with their team, but lost with 0: 1. In the 61st minute, German goalkeeper Nadine Angerer saved a penalty she had shot, as did a penalty shot by Trine Rønning . In the group stage, however, the Norwegian team was able to win 1-0 against Germany and thus bring Germany the first defeat in a European Championship finals in 20 years.

On October 26, 2013, she scored her 50th international goal in the World Cup qualifier against Albania , making her fifth-best goalscorer in Norway .

The league game against Arna-Bjørnar on November 2, 2013 should be her last game, but she did not rule out a new comeback. In the 2014 season she played again for Stabæk Fotball and from the 2015 season for Kolbotn IL .

Gulbrandsen was also part of the squad for the 2015 World Cup in Canada (now as the oldest field player in the Norwegian squad) and thus took part in a World Cup for the fourth time. It was used in all four games. In the second group game against Germany, however, she was only brought on when the score was 0: 1 in the second half. After the team was dominated by the Germans in the first half, Norway was able to make the game evenly after their substitution and also achieve the equalization. Against the Ivory Coast she scored the goal to 3-0 (final score 3-1). In the round of 16 against England she scored 1-0 after a goalless first half, but could not be defended, so that Norway lost 2-1 and was eliminated. It is her last game for the national team so far. She is the player who has been with the Norwegian national team for the longest period (June 17, 1998 - June 22, 2015, 17 years and 5 days).
