Trine Bjerke Rønning (born June 14, 1982 in Trondheim ) is a former Norwegian soccer player . The defender was most recently under contract with the Norwegian first division club Stabæk FK and has been a member of the Norwegian national team since 1999 , for which she played a total of 162 senior internationals until 2016.

Rønning played for Trondheims-Ørn SK between 1998 and 2002 and became champions with her club in 2000 and 2001 and cup winners in 1998, 1999, 2001 and 2002. She then moved to Kolbotn IL and won the championship again in 2005 and 2006 and the cup in 2007. She has been playing for Stabæk IF since 2009, where she became champion in 2010.

She completed her first international match in 1999, making the jump from the U-18, for whom she played six times in 1998 (including the U-18 European Championship ), to the senior national team. After this first international match, she only made four more appearances in 2001 and meanwhile made more games for the U-18 team and took part in the U-18 European Women's Football Championship in 2001 , with Norway in the German finals Team lost 2: 3.

In 2002 she established herself in the national team and took part in the four-nation tournament and the Algarve Cup . At the World Championships in 2003 and 2007 she came to four appearances. She was runner-up at the 2005 European Championships. She also took part in the 2008 Olympic Games .

The defender made five appearances with the Norwegian women's national team in Finland at the 2009 European Women's Football Championship and reached the semi-finals with her team . Of the currently active players in Norway, she is the player with the second most international appearances and was the most experienced player in the squad for the 2011 World Cup . She was used in the three preliminary round games, but was eliminated with Norway for the first time in a World Cup preliminary round. In the decisive game against Australia , she was unlucky when, at a score of 1: 1, a free kick she kicked landed on the crossbar in the 84th minute.

In 2013 she took part for the third time in the finals of the women's European soccer championship , where she reached the final and was runner-up after a 1-0 defeat against Germany . Like Solveig Gulbrandsen , she was unable to convert a penalty.

Rønning was also part of the squad for the 2015 World Cup . In the first group game against Thailand , she scored the first tournament goal for the Norwegians. After that, however, she was only used in the round of 16 against England , which lost their team 2-1 and was eliminated.

On November 4, 2017, she ended her career as a soccer player. With 162 internationals, she is fourth for the Norwegians.
