Kolbotn Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club based in Kolbotn in the municipality of Nordre Follo in Viken . The municipality borders the state capital Oslo to the north .

The association was formed in 1945 from a merger of the associations Kolbotn Idrettsklubb , Kolbotn Arbeideridrettslag and Kolbotn Skøyteklubb .

history

In 1915 the Kullebunden Idrætsklub was founded. Normand Nilsen was the first chairman. The club later changed its name to Kolbotn Idrettsklubb (KIK). The Kolbotn Arbeideridrettslag (Kolbotn AIL) was founded in 1924. Ten years later, the speed skaters split off and founded the Kolbotn Skøyteklubb association. In 1945 the three associations merged and Kolbotn IL was founded. Each department has been run as a semi-autonomous association since 1960. 1985 joined the Hellerasten Volleyball Klubb Kolbotn IL.

Women's soccer

The women's football division of Kolbotn IL is one of the strongest teams in Norway and Europe. In 1994 he was promoted to the top series , the top division. In 2002, 2005 and 2006 the Norwegian championship could be won. In 2004 Kolbotn IL reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Women's Cup . In the national cup , Kolbotn has been in the final three times so far. In 1998 they lost the final against Trondheims-Ørn SK 4-0. In 2003 they embarrassed themselves in the final with a 2-1 defeat against the second division Medkila IL . It was not until 2007 that the team was able to win the cup after a 4-2 win over Asker FK .

The most famous players were the Norwegian national players Solveig Gulbrandsen , Ingvild Stensland , Trine Rønning , Bente Nordby and Isabell Herlovsen .

Other departments

The ringer division had its heyday in the 1940s, 1980s and 1990s. The most successful player was Jon Rønningen , who won two Olympic gold medals. The handball department won two championships in 1983 and 1984. The volleyball players from Kolbotn IL became Norwegian champions in 1992.

The famous polar explorer Roald Amundsen has been an honorary member of Kolbotn IL since 1924.
