Sara Margareta Larsson (born May 13, 1979 in Kristinehamn ; Sara Mattsson since 2015 ) is a former Swedish football player who played in defense.
Career
societies
Most recently, she played for KIF Örebro from 2011 to 2013 , after playing in the US Women's Professional Soccer for Philadelphia Independence in 2010. Before that she played for Linköpings FC in Sweden , where she won the Swedish Cup twice and for the now defunct St. Louis Athletica team .
Before joining LFC in 2004 , she played for Malmö FF for six years .
National team
In September 2000, she made her debut in the Swedish women's national team, having previously played 12 U-23 and seven U-19 games.
Sara Larsson was voted Rookie of the Year in Sweden in 2000.
Sara Larsson took part with the Swedish national team in the women's football world championships in 2003 and 2007 , where she was runner-up in 2003.
In 2009 she was in the squad of the Swedish selection for the European Football Championship in Finland, where she was used in a preliminary round game. On March 9, 2011, she made her 100th international match at the Algarve Cup against Japan .
She was also nominated for the 2011 World Cup . She was in the starting eleven in all three preliminary round matches and reached the quarterfinals with her team unbeaten, where they met the Australians . Here, too, Larsson was back in the starting line-up and with the 3-1 victory both the semi-finals against Japan and the qualification for the Olympic Games in London were reached . On July 16, 2011, she and the team won the game for third place in the 2-1 victory over France . She was not nominated for the 2012 Olympic Games.
Her last international match was on September 15, 2012 in a 2-1 win against the Netherlands. At the first game under the new national coach Pia Sundhage on October 23, 2012, the last game in 2012, she was still part of the squad, but was not used. After that she was no longer nominated.
She has been called Mattsson since she married in 2015.
