Red Hospital in Pasewalk

The Rote Hospital is a listed building in Pasewalk , a town in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern .

history

In 1806 there were two independent hospitals in Pasewalk , St. Georg and St. Spiritus. They united in 1812 to form a common foundation. In the middle of the 19th century, she acquired a piece of land in front of Prenzlauer Tor in order to build an extension there.

The two-storey building was built in 1851 from red brick , which is also what gave it its name. In addition to a kitchen, 16 apartments with bedrooms were set up there. At the beginning of the 21st century, the foundation renovated the building. Some rooms were merged, so that 12 residential units for assisted living were created. In addition, the facade and the roof are being repaired.

architecture

The building was built in the neo-Romanesque style. The symmetrical front of the building has simple arched windows on the ground floor, also framed in red brick. These are recorded on the upper floor, which is optically separated by a cornice . There, the arched windows are decorated with triple- coupled bricks.
