Die Linke Berlin is the Berlin regional association of the party Die Linke . The state association is led by Katina Schubert as state chairman. At the end of 2016, it was the second largest national association of this party in Germany in terms of membership.

history

In 1990 the Berlin regional association of the former SED, renamed PDS , was formed . From 2004 the WASG was formed in Berlin .

In 2007, both parties merged to form Die Linke in the Berlin regional association. In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2011 , the Berlin State Association achieved 11.7 percent and moved into the Berlin House of Representatives with 19 members. In the election for the Berlin House of Representatives in 2016 , the Berlin State Association achieved 15.6 percent and moved into the Berlin House of Representatives with 27 members on October 27, 2016. For the first time, the Left will also move into all twelve district council assemblies in parliamentary groups.
