Udo Wolf (born July 27, 1962 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). Since 2001 he is a member of the Berlin House of Representatives and was from 2009 to 2020 Group Chairman of his faction .

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1981, Wolf studied political science at the Free University of Berlin . From 1990 to 1991 he was an employee in the federal office of the Alliance Greens . From 1991 to 1992 he was an employee of the Bundestag member Jutta Braband (as a member of the United Left on the open list of the PDS ), 1993 to 1994 employee of Gregor Gysi . After that he was a regional office employee of the PDS in the Bundestag until 2001 . He is an active member of the ver.di union . Udo Wolf is the younger brother of the former Berlin Senator for Economic Affairs, Harald Wolf .

Political party

Wolf was a member of the International Marxist Group (GIM) from 1981 to 1986 and a member of the Alternative List Berlin (AL) from 1984 to 1990 . He has been a member of the PDS since 1993 and was on the state executive from 1995 to 2007. From 1997 to 2003 and from 2005 to 2007 he was Deputy State Chairman.

MP

Wolf has been a member of the Berlin House of Representatives since 2001 . He was deputy chairman of the parliamentary group and a member of the committees for home affairs, security and order, integration, labor and social affairs, and the constitutional committee. From October 2009 he has been the parliamentary group chairman (from October 11, 2016 in a dual position together with Carola Bluhm ). He and Carola Bluhm resigned this group chairmanship in order to give the successors enough time to prepare for the 2021 parliamentary elections.
