Seat of the Berlin House of Representatives ( building of the former Prussian Landtag )

The election to the 19th House of Representatives of Berlin (often short Berlin election 2021 ) will take place on September 26, 2021 for a legislative period of five years.

On the same day, the elections to the twelve district council assemblies , the Bundestag election and, presumably, the referendum of the initiative Deutsche Wohnen & Co. expropriate will be held in Berlin .

The SPD ranged 21.6 percent to become the strongest force, it is so far the smallest share of votes, the largest party in a German state parliament. In addition to the SPD, the CDU in particular lost , both parties had to accept their worst election results in Berlin ever. While the left gained slightly, the Greens lost slightly. The AfD competed for the first time in Berlin and reached 14.2 percent, the FDP succeeded in re-entering the House of Representatives.

The seats are calculated using the Hare-Niemeyer method .

After the election, the first red-red-green government was formed with the SPD at its head; the coalition holds 92 of the 160 seats in the House of Representatives. Michael Müller remained Governing Mayor of Berlin and formed the Senate Müller II .
