Election to the city council of Greater Berlin in 1921
The election for the city council of Berlin in 1921 took place on October 16, 1921. The new election was necessary before the end of the legislative period, as the Prussian Higher Administrative Court had declared the election of 1920 invalid in June 1921 due to partial election fraud . The parties with the strongest votes were the SPD , Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD) and German National People's Party (DNVP), with the USPD losing out in the election with a loss of almost 20 percentage points. The German People's Party (DVP) slipped to fourth place with slight losses, the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) entered Berlin for the first time in the election of the city council and entered parliament with 21 seats.
Both the German Democratic Party (DDP), Reichspartei des Deutschen Mittelstandes (WP) and the German Center Party were able to repeat their election results from last year, with the WP and Center Party being able to win mandates again. In addition, the anti - Semitic German Social Party (DSP) also received a seat with 0.7%.
