The election for the city council of Berlin in 1929 took place on November 17, 1929.

The result of the election shows a radicalization of the fringes, in the left-wing political spectrum through the gains of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD), in the right-wing political spectrum through the entry of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) and the simultaneous loss of the moderate parties.

Regardless of this, the SPD was able to maintain its position as the strongest party again, closely followed by the KPD. The German National People's Party (DNVP) fell to third place due to slight losses and the gain of the KPD.

The German People's Party (DVP) only narrowly stood out from the German Democratic Party (DDP), which in turn lost more than half of its votes. With more than 5 percent of the vote, the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP) was able to move into parliament with 13 members. Neither the Reichspartei des Deutschen Mittelstandes (WP) nor the German Center Party were able to post any major gains. The Christian People's Service (CVD) gained three members.
