Sebastian Schluesselburg (born February 7, 1983 in Berlin ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). He is a member of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Life and education

Sebastian Schluesselburg first grew up in West Berlin . After his parents separated, he moved to Bad Segeberg with his mother . There he attended the Heinrich Rantzau elementary school and the municipal grammar school .

In 1997 he moved back to Berlin and graduated from the Alfred Wegener High School in Dahlem .

From 2000 to 2002 he attended the upper school of the Sophie-Charlotte-Oberschule before moving to Frankfurt am Main . There he graduated from the Helmholtz School in 2004 . In the same year he started studying law at the law faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin . There he completed the specialization area 2 “Legal Policy and Legal Formation”. In his study thesis he dealt with the topic of requirements for the procedure of private standard setting, explained using the example of International Financial Reporting Standards . In 2015 he passed his first state examination in law at the GJPA Berlin-Brandenburg. Subsequently, the law faculty of the Humboldt University in Berlin awarded him the academic degree " Diplom-Jurist ".

Sebastian Schluesselburg has been the father of a daughter since February 2, 2018.

Political career

Student Council and Education Policy

Schliisselburg began his political engagement in the student council . He was class and school representative at the Alfred Wegener High School. From 2000 to 2002 he was a member of the state board of the state school student council in Berlin. During this time, the first discussions about a fundamental amendment to the school law and the Berlin banking scandal , which broke up the coalition between the SPD and CDU, so that early elections were held. At the suggestion of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen, Schlüsselburg was one of six sponsors of the referendum for the dissolution of the House of Representatives. He also advocated a strengthening of the co-determination of students and the legal recognition of the state student council.

From 2001 to 2002 he was also a member of the federal board of the federal student council (BSV). In this function he accompanied the discussion about the results of the first PISA study and advocated an integrative school system based on the Scandinavian model and the abolition of staying seated . In addition, he was involved in the peace movement of the Federal Armed Forces in Afghanistan for the BSV .

In 2002, Schlüsselburg became a member of the non-party youth association Young Democrats / Young Left and worked there in various positions until 2005, including deputy federal chairman.

In 2004 he became a member of the Education and Science Union (GEW).

The left

In 2005 Sebastian Schluesselburg joined the party of democratic socialism (PDS). In the same year he completed an internship with the PDS parliamentary group in the Berlin House of Representatives. As part of his work he developed together with Carola Bluhm u. a. a concept for the introduction of the community school and after the elections was also a member of the negotiating group for educational policy of the second red-red coalition . From 2006 to 2011 he worked as a student assistant in the parliamentary group Die Linke. in the Berlin House of Representatives in the education department and most recently in the budget and finance department. In 2012 he became a student assistant and later a research assistant for Gesine Lötzsch, member of the Bundestag .

From 2007 to 2010 Sebastian Schluesselburg was a member of the state executive committee of the Left in Berlin . Since 2012 he has been deputy chairman of the Lichtenberg district association, the district association of the Left with the largest number of members. In 2013, Schlüsselburg led the Bundestag election campaign for the Lichtenberg district association for the re-election of Gesine Lötzsch.

Schluesselburg is opposed to the further construction of the A100 from Treptow to Lichtenberg and tries to stop this together with the action alliance A100.

In September 2016, he was elected as a direct candidate in the constituency of Lichtenberg 4 with 32.8 percent of the first votes in the Berlin House of Representatives and thus achieved the best first vote result for DIE LINKE nationwide. In the DIE LINKE parliamentary group, he is the spokesperson for legal policy and data protection. He is a member of the committees for constitutional and legal affairs, rules of procedure, consumer protection, anti-discrimination as well as the protection of the constitution and science / research. He was also elected a member of the judges' selection committee.
