Dirk Behrendt (born August 5, 1971 in West Berlin ) is a German politician ( Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ). He has been the Justice Senator of the State of Berlin since December 8, 2016 and was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives from 2006 to 2016 .

Life

Behrendt grew up in the Reinickendorf district . In 1992 he moved to a shared apartment in Kreuzberg . Today he lives with his partner Daniel Wesener in Kreuzberg.

education and profession

After studying law and doing a doctorate on the subject of auditing by the Federal Audit Office outside the direct federal administration at the Free University of Berlin , Behrendt completed his legal clerkship . From 2000 he worked as a judge in Berlin, first at the Berlin Regional Court , then at the Berlin-Mitte and Köpenick district courts . From summer 2005 to summer 2006 he was a judge at the Berlin Administrative Court . From 2003 to 2005 he was state spokesman for the New Judges Association Berlin / Brandenburg.

Party and politics

Behrendt has been a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen since 1994. From 1995 to 1999 he was a member of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in the district council in Kreuzberg (before the district association in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg ). Here he was both chairman of the Environment and Transport Committee and a member of the Economic Committee. During the red-green summer senate 2001 , Behrendt was an employee of Justice Senator Wolfgang Wieland (Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen).

MP

Dirk Behrendt was a directly elected member of the Berlin House of Representatives (MdA) since the election to the House of Representatives in September 2006 . He ran in the constituency of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg 2 and was elected with 42.4% of the vote. Dirk Behrendt was a member of the committees for home affairs and for constitution and law. He was also the legal policy spokesman for his group.

In the election to the Berlin House of Representatives on September 18, 2011, he won the direct mandate for the constituency of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg 2 with 49.8% of the votes cast and thus achieved the best first vote result of all MPs. The constituency has always been considered a Green stronghold with its most famous federal politician Christian Ströbele . In 2016 he left the House of Representatives.
