Peter Biesenbach (* 10. February 1948 in Hückeswagen ) is a German politician of the CDU and since June 30, 2017 NRW Justice Minister in the Cabinet Laschet . At 72 years old, Biesenbach is the oldest state minister in Germany.

Origin, studies and private matters

Peter Biesenbach grew up in a conservative family background in Hückeswagen. With the secondary school leaving certificate , Biesenbach attended an evening high school in Düsseldorf . As a high school graduate, this was followed by a three-year training course for senior administration in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia to obtain a degree in administrative management . After working as a government inspector for the district president of Düsseldorf, he studied law and psychology at the University of Cologne . From 1992 to 2017, Peter Biesenbach worked as an independent lawyer in a Hückeswagen law firm.

Biesenbach is married and lives in Hückeswagen.

Political party

At the age of 18, Biesenbach became a CDU member in 1966. As a conservative CDU politician, Peter Biesenbach was, among other things, deputy chairman of the CDU district association Oberbergischer Kreis, deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Hückeswagen City Council and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the Oberbergischer Kreis district assembly.

Member of the NRW state parliament (2000 to date)

Since 2 June 2000, he is responsible for the state election district Oberbergischer Kreis I member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 , he received the absolute majority of the first votes cast with 50.8 percent . From 2005 to 2010 Biesenbach was parliamentary managing director of the CDU parliamentary group and from 2010 to 2017 deputy group chairman. Since 2004 Peter Biesenbach has been a member of all federal assemblies that have been held.

The Prime Minister of North Rhine-Westphalia , Armin Laschet , appointed him Minister of Justice of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on June 30, 2017. At 72 years of age, Peter Biesenbach is the oldest state minister in Germany.
