Otto Flehinghaus

Otto Flehinghaus (born June 30, 1904 in Witten ; † April 20, 1987 in Düsseldorf ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).

Life and work

After graduating from secondary school in Witten , Otto Flehinghaus studied law in Munich , Marburg and Göttingen . As a fraternity member , he became a member of the Rhenania Munich fraternity in 1923 , and was executive chairman of the Erlangen Association and Honorary Agreement in 1926/27 . In 1927 he passed the first state examination in law and then worked as a trainee lawyer in Bochum , Witten and Hamm . 1930 doctorate he became Dr. jur. After the second state examination in 1931, he worked as a court assessor until 1934 .

Flehinghaus worked, among other things, as a district and regional judge in Münster , Essen , Dortmund , Arnsberg and Lüneburg . From 1934 to 1938 he was a regional judge at the Hanover regional court and at the higher regional court in Celle and from 1938 at the regional judge at the Düsseldorf higher regional court . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was eventually taken prisoner by the United States, from which he was released in 1946.

From 1948 Otto Flehinghaus was again active as a regional judge at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court and was promoted to the Higher Regional Court in 1950. From 1950 to 1954 he was head of the reallocation authority of the city of Düsseldorf and from 1954 to 1958 he worked as chief legal advisor at Commerzbank AG in Düsseldorf. He then took up a position as a lawyer .

Political party

Flehinghaus joined the CDU in 1952. Since 1962 he was a member of the regional executive committee of the CDU Rhineland and chairman of the Evangelical working group of the CDU Rhineland.

MP

Flehinghaus belonged to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament from 1954 to 1970 and was one of the vice-presidents of the state parliament from 1966 to 1970.

Public offices

Flehinghaus served from July 1958 to July 1962 as Minister of Justice in the state government of North Rhine-Westphalia led by Prime Minister Franz Meyers .
