The regional court of Hanover is one of six regional courts in the district of the higher regional court of Celle , along with the regional courts of Bückeburg , Hildesheim , Lüneburg , Stade and Verden . It is based in Hanover . It is the largest of the regional courts in the OLG district. About 220 employees work there, including 89 judges (as of January 2017).

The district courts in Burgwedel , Hameln , Hanover , Neustadt am Rübenberge , Springe and Wennigsen belong to the district of the Hanover Regional Court . The higher court is the Higher Regional Court of Celle .

The President of the District Court is Ralph Guise-Rübe . 25 civil chambers were formed , including seven chambers for commercial matters , twelve large criminal chambers , seven small criminal chambers, four of which were youth chambers as well as four chambers for penal enforcement and three chambers for fines. The respective responsibilities of the individual chambers and their composition result from the applicable business allocation plans.

The Hanover Regional Court is exclusively responsible for all of Lower Saxony for several types of legal disputes, e.g. B. for cartel proceedings (cartel agreements and cartel decisions, Article 81 or 82 of the Treaty establishing the European Community), competition matters and proceedings according to Section 102 of the Energy Industry Act (Section 7 Ordinance on the Regulation of Responsibilities in the Jurisdiction and the Administration of Justice).

In the entrance hall of the building, built in the 1950s, there is a wall relief made by Kurt Lehmann in 1957/1958 from Kirchheim shell limestone slabs Moses and the plaque of the law . In the building of the regional court is the library of the regional court Hanover as a legal library with around 50,000 media units, including u. a. Over 100 running magazines and official journals and 90 running loose-leaf collections. The library can be used by employees of the Hanover judicial authorities, lawyers, employees of other authorities, students and those interested in law.
