history

The Royal District Court of Burgwedel was set up with the Hanoverian Courts Constitution Act of November 8, 1850, which came into force on October 1, 1852 . Initially, the district court was housed in the office building on the market square. The move to the former hunting lodge followed in 1886. It initially comprised the parts of the Burgwedel Office that previously belonged to the Burgwedel District Bailiwick.

By the Second World War , the district court had only about six to seven employees, one of whom was a judge. On July 19, 1943, the court was temporarily closed as an austerity measure due to the war. The Hanover District Court took over the business . The Burgwedel employees formed the department of the Burgwedel District Court in Hanover . Towards the end of the war, the Wehrmacht first moved into the building in Burgwedel, and later it was even used as an emergency shelter for refugees. On January 15, 1947, the Burgwedel District Court resumed operations.

building

The hunting lodge was built in 1650/51 on the site of the hunting lodge of the Celle dukes that burned down in the Thirty Years' War . In 1718 a larger extension was added. In 1989 and 1991 new buildings were occupied, and in 1999 the renovation of the old hunting lodge was completed. The current address of the district court building is Im Klint 4 .
