Roswitha Müller-Piepenkötter (born April 3, 1950 in Waltrop ) is a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ). From 2005 to 2010 she was the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister of Justice, from 2010 to September 2018 she was federal chairwoman of the White Ring .

Life

After graduating from the Geschwister-Scholl-Gymnasium in Lünen in 1968 , she studied law in Tübingen and Münster . From 1976 she was a judge in Dortmund , then in Düsseldorf and Leverkusen , and since 1992 at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court . From 1991 to 2002 she was a member of the district judges' council at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court. In 2002 she became chairwoman of the main judges' council of the ordinary judiciary in North Rhine-Westphalia and chairwoman of the Federation of Judges and Public Prosecutors in North Rhine-Westphalia eV From June 24, 2005 to July 15, 2010 she was Minister of Justice of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia in Rüttger's cabinet and a member of the Federal Council from June 30, 2005 to July 15, 2010. In her ministry, she established the victim protection expert group and the state government's pro victim day , which previously took place in 2009 and 2011.

As a member of the Federal Assembly in 2009 and 2010 , she took part in the election of the Federal President.

After Rüttger's government was voted out of office, Müller-Piepenkötter was elected federal chairman of the Weisser Ring aid organization for crime victims in October 2010 .

Müller-Piepenkötter is married, has two children and lives in Remscheid .
