Yvonne Gebauer (2018)

Yvonne Gebauer (born Yvonne Leirich on August 2, 1966 in Cologne ) is a German politician ( FDP ). She has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament since the 2012 election and has been Minister for Schools and Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in the Laschet cabinet since 2017 .

Origin, education and private life

Born and raised in Cologne, Yvonne Gebauer attended the Heinrich-Heine-Gymnasium there in Cologne-Ostheim , where she graduated from high school in 1985. She is the daughter of Wolfgang Leirich, who was head of school for the city of Cologne from 1975 to 1987. This was followed by training as a legal assistant until 1987 , in which she worked in Cologne until 1989. From 1989 to 1992 she was employed by an FDP member of the Bundestag in Bonn. From 1994 Yvonne Gebauer managed a boarding house until she started her own business in the real estate industry in 2004 .

Yvonne Gebauer is married, has one son and lives in Cologne.

Political party

Gebauer joined the FDP in 1982 as a 16-year-old high school student. From 1999 to 2004 Yvonne Gebauer was a competent resident in the committee for suggestions and complaints of the city of Cologne. From 2015 Gebauer was chairman of the local FDP district association. On November 19, 2017, she handed over the chairmanship of the FDP Cologne to Lorenz Deutsch .

MPs

Yvonne Gebauer was a member of the Cologne City Council from 2004 to 2012 and since then has been the school policy spokeswoman for the Cologne FDP council group.

In the NRW state elections in 2010 and 2012 , she ran as a direct candidate in the Cologne V constituency , receiving 4.6% and 5.3% of the first votes. In the state elections in 2012, she finally moved into the state parliament above list position 12. In the 2017 state elections , she again won a mandate from the FDP's state list. In this election she ran in the Cologne IV state electoral district and received 8.3% of the first votes.

Minister

After the formation of the black and yellow state government under Armin Laschet , Gebauer is Minister for Schools and Education of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia (see Laschet cabinet ). She is the first female school minister since the state of North Rhine-Westphalia was founded without a university degree.
