Lars Lindemann

Lars Friedrich Lindemann (born May 9, 1971 in Herzberg ) is a German lawyer and politician ( FDP ). Since 2012 he has been General Manager of the Top Association of Specialists in Germany . In February 2020 he became acting general secretary of the FDP Berlin .

Life

Lindemann studied law and business administration in Berlin and Giessen. He passed his first state examination in 1999 and his second state examination in 2003 .

He became a member of the FDP in 1996. From 2006 to 2010 he was deputy state chairman of the FDP Berlin. From 2010 to March 2019 he was the state treasurer there.

In 2009 he moved to the federal election on the national list Berlin in the German Bundestag one. There he was a member of the Committee on Health and an alternate member of the Committee on Culture and the Media. Due to the failure of his party to pass the five percent hurdle in the 2013 Bundestag election , he is no longer represented in the 18th Bundestag.

Since April 2017 he has been a member of the FDP federal executive committee. He is also the chairman of the Brandenburg Needs Tegel Association , which supports a corresponding popular initiative in the state of Brandenburg.

On February 18, 2020, he temporarily took over the office of General Secretary of the Berlin FDP after Sebastian Czaja had resigned.

Lindemann is a Protestant , married and has three children.

Controversy

In May 2013, Lindemann received criticism from his own FDP youth organization ( Young Liberals ), which accused him of lobbying . Lindemann announced only one week after his election to second place on the list for the 2013 federal election that he would take up the position of general manager of the leading association of specialists in Germany . He also worked for a law firm that specializes in “clients from the medical technology and healthcare industries”. The JuLis saw a conflict of interest in Lindemann's membership in the health committee of the Bundestag.

In June 2013, Lindemann called for the Berlin Zoo to be closed for cost reasons, which was met with fierce criticism. Eberhard Diepgen (CDU) described the demand as "nonsense". Thomas Ziolko (CDU) said it was "unbearable, as a Berlin member of the Bundestag who in the past did not care about the zoo or the zoo, full of ignorance about the zoo in the capital" said.

In August 2013, Lindemann compared the proposal by Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen to introduce a voluntary veggie day in canteens with the politics of National Socialism . He posted a Nazi propaganda image with the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party logo on his Facebook page . The photomontage was perceived as “tasteless” to “scandalous”. Steffi Lemke , federal manager of the Greens, demanded an immediate apology. Anyone who deals with Nazi comparisons not only has "no arguments, but has also evidently left the ground of political debate," said Lemke. At the instruction of the FDP federal center, Lindemann had to remove the entry again.
