Detlef Parr
Detlef Parr (born September 8, 1942 in Düsseldorf ) is a German politician ( FDP ).
Life and work
In his youth, Parr was a successful 400m runner. After graduating from the Leibniz Gymnasium in Düsseldorf in 1962, Parr studied English and sport for teaching at secondary schools at the University of Bonn , the University of Cologne and the German Sport University Cologne , which he completed with the first state examination . After completing his legal clerkship , he also passed the second state examination and then worked as a secondary school teacher. In 1985 Parr moved to the FDP parliamentary group in the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia as a specialist for schools and further education, science and research, sport and culture . In 1995 he returned to school as rector of the Benzenberg Realschule Düsseldorf. He has been on leave since 1998. He is Vice President for Health and Family of the Special Olympics Germany.
Detlef Parr is married and has five children.
Awards
In July 2020 Parr was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit.
Political party
Parr has been a member of the FDP since 1972. He has been chairman of the FDP district association in Mettmann since 1987 , honorary chairman since 2009 and from 1996 to 2004 chairman of the FDP district association in Düsseldorf. From 2004 to 2006 he was also the state chairman of the Liberal Seniors in North Rhine-Westphalia . He has taken over the chairmanship of the FDP Federal Sports Commission from the former athlete Liesel Westermann . His deputy was initially Arnd Krüger . He is the federal chairman of the Liberal Seniors and an advisory member of the FDP federal executive committee .
MP
Parr belonged to the district council of the Mettmann district from 1992 to 1998 .
On February 1, 1994 Parr moved up to the Bundestag for the late MP Hans-Hermann Gattermann , but left the Bundestag again on November 10, 1994 at the end of the 12th legislative period. From 1998 to 2009 Parr was again a member of the German Bundestag . Here he was spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group for prevention policy, addiction and drug policy and sports policy. Detlef Parr has always entered the Bundestag via the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia.
