Manuel Höferlin (born February 6, 1973 in Paris ) is an entrepreneur and German politician ( FDP ). He was from 2009 to 2013 and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

education and profession

Manuel Höferlin was born in Paris and moved with his family to Harxheim in Rheinhessen when he was five years old . In 1992 he graduated from the Gutenberg High School in Mainz and then studied law at the Johannes Gutenberg University . While still a student, he went into business for himself, founded an IT consulting company in 1997 and participated in a management consultancy, of which he was managing director until the beginning of 2009.

Political party

In 2005 Höferlin joined the FDP and in 2007 became honorary managing director in the Mainz-Bingen district association . In the same year he became a member of the district executive committee and the expanded district parliamentary group. Since September 2008 he has been a member of the district board of the FDP Rheinhessen-Vorderpfalz. In 2017 he took over the chairmanship of the FDP district association Mainz-Bingen.

Höferlin is chairman of the Internet regional association FDP LV Net and a member of the federal board of the FDP.

MP

In the local elections in 2009 , Höferlin was elected to the local council of his home parish. For the 2009 federal election he ran as a direct candidate for the FDP in the Worms constituency and received 9.7% of the first votes. He moved into the 17th Bundestag as fifth on the state list of his party . There Höferlin was active in the Interior and Legal Committee; He was also chairman of the “IT and Network Policy” working group of the FDP parliamentary group.

Due to the failure of his party to pass the five percent hurdle in the 2013 federal election , he was not represented in the 18th Bundestag.

Höferlin ran as the top candidate of the FDP Rhineland-Palatinate for the 2017 federal election and was elected member of the 19th German Bundestag on September 24, 2017 . Here he is chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Digital Agenda Committee and a member of the Committee on Home Affairs and Home Affairs . He is also the digital policy spokesman for his group. Höferlin is also a deputy member of the "Artificial Intelligence" commission of inquiry.

Social offices

Höferlin was a member of the Foundation's Board of Trustees from 2010 to 2014 and has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fridtjof Nansen Academy for Political Education at the Ingelheim Further Education Center since 2018 .

Private

Höferlin is married and has three children. He is of the Roman Catholic denomination.
