Pascal Kober (born July 3, 1971 in Sindelfingen ) is a German Protestant theologian and politician . Since 2017 he has sat in his second legislative period for the FDP in the German Bundestag .

Life

Pascal Kober grew up in Böblingen and studied Protestant theology in Tübingen , Kiel and Neuendettelsau . He was elected deputy state chairman of the FDP Baden-Württemberg on January 5, 2015 in Stuttgart. He is pastor of the Evangelical Church in Württemberg . From 2007 to 2009 he was a religion teacher at the Hermann-Gundert School in Calw- Wimberg.

From March 2014 he worked as a military chaplain at the Stetten am kalten Markt and Pfullendorf locations . In 2015 and 2016, Kober went abroad twice to Mali. From December 2015 to March 2016, Kober was deployed as a military chaplain for the European training mission EUTM Mali in Bamako . From April to July 2016 he was deployed as part of the UN MINUSMA mission in northern Gao.

Kober is an Evangelical Lutheran denomination.

Pascal Kober joined the Young Liberals in 1998 and also became a member of the FDP. Two years later he became chairman of the FDP district association Neckar-Alb. Since 2001 he has been a member of the state board of the FDP / DVP Baden-Württemberg. He is the initiator of the new basic program of the FDP / DVP Baden-Württemberg, founding member and theological advisor to the Christian Liberals and since 2010 a member of the commission for the development of a new basic program of the FDP federal party. Since May 2015 he has been a member of the FDP federal executive committee .

Member of the Bundestag

In the 2009 federal election , Pascal Kober entered the German Bundestag via the state list of the FDP Baden-Württemberg . In the 17th electoral term he was the chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Committee for Labor and Social Affairs responsible for all issues in the legal sphere of the Social Security Code II, known colloquially as Hartz IV. In addition, he was a full member of the committee for human rights and humanitarian aid , where he campaigned for economic, social and cultural human rights as well as for the human rights of women, children and minorities. He was also a deputy member of the Committee for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety .

Pascal Kober held other offices and functions in the Bundestag as deputy chairman of the parliamentary group of French-speaking countries in West and Central Africa, as a member of the parliamentary group of SADC states, the parliamentary group USA and the German-Israeli parliamentary group, and as deputy spokesman for the Christian group in the FDP parliamentary group inside. Due to the failure of his party in the 2013 federal election , Kober left parliament.

In the 2017 federal elections , Kober ran in the federal constituency of Reutlingen and placed fourth on the Baden-Württemberg state list. He moved into the 19th German Bundestag via the state list . Since January 2018, Kober has been the social policy spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group and a member and chairman of his party in the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs . He is also a deputy member of the health and defense committees and the 1st committee of inquiry of the defense committee.
