Ria Schröder (born March 7, 1992 in Boppard ) is a German politician ( FDP ). The lawyer was federal chairwoman of the FDP-affiliated youth organization Junge Liberale from 2018 to 2020 . Since 2019 she has been an assessor in the federal executive committee of the FDP .

Life

Schröder grew up in the Hunsrück in Rhineland-Palatinate and attended the CJD Christophorus School in Königswinter . From 2010 she completed a law degree at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg , which she graduated with the first state examination in 2016. Since 2016 she has been studying art history and Italian at the University of Hamburg and works in a Hamburg law firm.

Political activity

Schröder has been a member of the state board of the FDP Hamburg since 2014, a member of the national board of the Young Liberals since 2015 and became federal chairwoman of the FDP-affiliated youth association on April 27, 2018. She prevailed at the 56th Federal Congress of Young Liberals in Gütersloh with 58.08 percent of the votes cast against an opposing candidate. Schröder succeeded Konstantin Kuhle , who no longer stood as chairman after his election to the German Bundestag . Before that, from 2014 to 2016 she was deputy state chairman for Organization of the Young Liberals Hamburg and initially an assessor and later deputy federal chairwoman for organization in the federal board. At the 2019 Federal Congress she was re-elected with 56.6 percent unopposed candidate. Jens Teutrine was elected as her successor at the federal congress in Bielefeld in August 2020 .

For the 2017 federal election , Schröder ran for the FDP in fourth place on the state list in Hamburg led by Katja Suding . In addition, she prevailed against Burkhardt Müller-Sönksen , who had been a member of the German Bundestag until 2013, with her application for direct candidacy for the FDP in the Hamburg-Eimsbüttel constituency . However, it failed to make it into the Bundestag. For the election to the Hamburg citizenship 2020 , Schröder was voted 7th on the state list of the FDP Hamburg . However, she missed her entry into the Hamburg citizenship because her party failed at the 5 percent hurdle.

Political positions

Schröder advocates a " generation fair policy". She criticized the proposal by Federal Labor Minister Hubertus Heil to set a double stop line for the pension level and contribution rates until 2025 as "blatantly unjust for the young generation" and "not sustainable". Schröder is a member of the Young Pension Commission, which was set up in response to the Federal Government's Pension Commission. Its goal is “a policy that creates challenges and enables opportunities”.

Schröder calls for parts of public broadcasting to be privatized .

During the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany , she called for the "unbureaucratic opening" of the BAföG as immediate aid for students in financial emergency situations, a parent-independent BAföG was "the right solution" even before the Corona.
