Hermann "Beppo" Brem (* 1961 in Olching ) is a German politician (initially FDP , currently Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen ) and sports functionary ( Bavarian State Sports Association ).

Life

In 1981 Hermann Brem graduated from the Theresien-Gymnasium in Munich . From 1983 to 1989 he studied business administration and politics. From 2002 to February 2017 he worked as the head of a large law firm. Since February 2017 he has been advising freelance lawyers and law firms on management and personnel issues. He is also active as an author and lecturer.

As a student, Brem was initially involved for 5 years with the Social Liberal University Association , the Young Liberals (most recently as their federal chairman) and the FDP.

From September 2014 to July 2017, Brem was chairman of the Munich district association of Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen. In May 2015 and April 2017, Brem was re-elected as chairman of the Munich Greens with 90% each. From 2015 to 2017, Brem was also a member of the state committee (extended state board) of the Bavarian Greens. Brem has been a member of the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen party since 2007 . For the Bundestag election on September 27, 2009 , he ran unsuccessfully as a Bundestag candidate for the constituency of Munich-West / Mitte . With 19.4% he achieved the best second vote result and with 14.6% (almost 25,000 votes) the fourth best first vote result of the Greens in Bavaria. In 2014, he ran for the city council of the Munich Greens, but did not make it to the city council. On February 3, 2019, Brem ran as a challenger to the incumbent Eike Hallitzky for the state chairmanship of the Bavarian Greens, but was unsuccessful with 110 of 313 votes.

Brem has been an honorary city councilor of the state capital Munich since May 1, 2020. He was also elected to the Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt district committee.

Honorary positions

In addition to party politics, Brem is particularly involved in sports and the LGBTIQ * movement . Since 2003 he has been a member of the Sports Advisory Board of the City of Munich and, since 2007, a member of the commission for grant and occupancy issues in the sports sector of the City of Munich. Since November he has been district chairman of the Bavarian State Sports Association, District 1 Munich-Stadt, and since September 2018 also deputy district chairman of the BLSV district of Upper Bavaria. In addition, he was appointed to the Committee for Politics and Society of the BLSV. From 2007 to 2017 he was first district treasurer and deputy district chairman as well as treasurer of the Munich Sports Youth. 2009–2011 he was president of the traditional Sport-Verein München von 1880 e. V. From 1999 to 2008, as chairman of the gay and lesbian sports club Team München, he contributed to Munich's successful application for the EuroGames 2004 and helped organize it on the board.

Publications

In autumn 2012 the first book Herr Brem goes into politics was published at the Frankfurt book fair Brems . This describes his experiences in the 2009 federal election campaign.
