Georg Neubauer

Georg Neubauer (* 1958 in Osnabrück ) is a German industrial engineer and politician of the FDP . From 1988 to 1989 he was Federal Chairman of the Young Liberals .

Neubauer, who comes from Osnabrück, studied engineering and did his doctorate at the TU Berlin on the process-oriented selection of PPS systems . For years he worked in applied research at the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology in Berlin and temporarily in East Asia. In 1997 he went to Brandenburg and has since worked for a medium-sized company in Neuruppin that manufactures flue gas desulphurisation systems, since 2005 as managing director.

After Neubauer joined the FDP in 1981, he first became Berlin State Chairman and then in 1988, succeeding Guido Westerwelle, Federal Chairman of the Young Liberals, the party's youth organization. According to Westerwelle biographer Majid Sattar , Neubauer “couldn't get a grip on the association” and remained in the shadow of Westerwelle. Neubauer's successor was Hermann Brem in 1989 , who was replaced by Birgit Homburger after a few weeks . Neubauer held various offices in the Berlin FDP regional association in the 1990s.

After a long break from party politics, Neubauer ran for the federal election in 2013 as a direct candidate for the FDP in constituency 58 (Oberhavel - Havelland II) . He focused on budget discipline, economic development and competition in energy policy and advocated the expansion of Bundesstraße 96 .

Neubauer is married and has two children.
