al-Asbat minaret
The al-Asbat minaret or Bab-al-Asbat minaret , Arabic مئذنة باب الأسباط, DMG Miʾḏanat Bāb al-Asbāṭ , is one of the four minarets on the Temple Mount in the Old City of Jerusalem , all of which belong to the al-Aqsa Mosque . The English name is Minaret of the Tribes , d. H. Minaret of the Tribes in the sense of the Twelve Tribes of Israel .
The minaret on the northeast side of the mosque, built in 1367, was reconstructed after the Jericho earthquake in 1927 . The minaret is placed on the portico of the eastern part of the north wall of the Temple Mount, not far from the Bab-al-Asbat gate ( Gate of the Tribes ). The floor plan, which is square below, tapers into a narrow round tower; the muezzin platform is closed with a round dome, which, like the entire upper part, was replaced in 1927. The muezzin platform can be reached through a spiral staircase inside the shaft.
