Julius von Auer

Julius von Auer (born July 1, 1832 in Munich , Kingdom of Bavaria ; † November 10, 1915 ibid) was a senior Bavarian administrative officer.

Origin and family

He was born the son of the lawyer Michael Nikolaus Ludwig von Auer (1777–1835) and his wife Anna Maria geb. Pröbstl (1791–1872). The father and his family were raised to the hereditary nobility on May 27, 1832 and the family was named after the castle of Aufhausen , acquired in 1817 by Johann Maximilian Graf Preysing , with its full name Auer von Aufhausen . The Reichsrat , lawyer and entrepreneur Adolf von Auer (1831-1916) and the member of the state parliament Max von Auer (1821-1881) were Julius' older brothers. His niece Wilhelmine married Adolf von Neuffer (1845-1924) , who later became President of the Palatinate government .

Live and act

Julius von Auer, of Catholic faith, passed the Abitur examination at Munich's Maximiliansgymnasium in 1870 , with the later painter Fritz Baer , among others . He studied law, entered the Bavarian civil service and passed his assessor examination at the Upper Bavarian Court of Appeal in 1857 .

In 1875 he was promoted to District Officer in Lindau , 1879 he was Councilor for the Government of Swabia and Neuburg , 1888 Ministerial . In 1892 he was appointed regional president of the Palatinate , and in 1897 president of the government of Upper Bavaria . In 1902 Julius von Auer received the rank of Councilor of State in extraordinary service .

During his time as President of the Palatinate Government, he was chairman of the Palatinate Historical Society .

Auer died in 1915 and was buried in the family grave in Munich's Old Southern Cemetery.

Awards

Julius von Auer was the holder of high orders, a. a. He wore the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown , the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Order of Merit of St. Michael , the Commander Cross 1st Class of the Order of the Zähringer Löwen (1894), the Commander's Level of the Turkish Osmanje Order (1891), as well as the Grand Cross of the Belgian Order of the Leopold (1900).
