Richard Balles

Richard Balles (born November 28, 1885 in Burghausen near Münnerstadt, † May 24, 1950 in Munich ) was a German administrative lawyer .

Career

Born in 1885 as the son of a senior teacher, Balles attended the Humanist High School in Aschaffenburg and studied law at the University of Würzburg , where he became a member of the Arminia Würzburg fraternity in 1905 . After studying and doing his doctorate (1910) entered the Bavarian civil service and held various functions until 1945. He had already belonged to the government of Upper Bavaria in the years 1921-1927 and 1938-1943. In 1938, at the instigation of the NSDAP, he was appointed director of the Lohr a. Main recalled. In May 1945 he was appointed provisional district administrator of the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim by the American military government . In June of the same year he became Ludwig Osthelder's deputy in the office of regional president of Upper Bavaria and his successor on May 1, 1949. Interior Minister Willi Ankermüller introduced him to his office . "I am a man of justice and balance," he said when he was inaugurated. He died on May 24, 1950 in Munich . The funeral took place on Saturday, May 27, 1950 in Munich's Ostfriedhof.
