Karl August Joseph Maria Donatus Graf von Seinsheim (born February 17, 1784 in Munich ; † November 29, 1864, ibid) was Bavarian Finance Minister and President of the Chamber of Deputies .

Life

Karl Graf von Seinsheim was born the son of statesman Maximilian Joseph Clemens Maria von Seinsheim (1751-1803) and Maria Anna Freiin von Franckenstein (1754-1832). He received private tuition and then studied law at the universities of Landshut and Göttingen . Then he accompanied the Bavarian Crown Prince Ludwig on a trip to Italy. In 1806 he became an accessist at the General-Landesdirektion in Munich, then he held the office of district council in various places: 1808 in Trient , 1809 in Straubing , 1810 in Salzburg , 1817 in Munich. From 1824 to 1832 he was the second director of the government of the Isarkkreis , and from 1832 to 1840 the district president of the Isarkreis. In 1837 he became a State Councilor and from 1840 to 1847 he was Minister of State for Finance. He had been a member of the Chamber of Deputies since 1827, from which he resigned after being its President from 1840 to 1843. In 1845 he became a lifelong Reichsrat and retired on February 25, 1848.

Seinsheim was the chairman of the Historical Association of Upper Bavaria from its foundation in 1837 to 1846 .

Seinsheim was married to Isabella Countess von Lodron -Laterano (1787-1816) since December 27, 1808 , with whom he had two sons and two daughters.

Pope Gregory XVI had awarded Karl von Seinsheim in 1839 the Order of Christ , the highest honor of the Holy See .
