Sigmund von Pfeufer
Sigmund Heinrich Pfeufer , from 1867 knight von Pfeufer , from 1881 baron von Pfeufer (born February 24, 1824 in Bamberg , † September 23, 1894 in Munich ) was a Bavarian lawyer , civil servant and politician .
Life
He was the son of Christian Pfeufer , director of the Bamberg Municipal Hospital and his second wife Charlotte Auguste, née Countess von Rotenhan (1789–1864). He studied law at the universities of Munich and Heidelberg . During his studies he became a member of the Old Heidelberg Burschenschaft Allemannia in 1844 and of the Old Heidelberg Burschenschaft Teutonia in 1845 . Then he worked as an intern at the regional courts in Bamberg and Munich and as private secretary to the finance minister Gustav von Lerchenfeld , during his short term in office, in 1848. Then Sigmund Pfeufer went to Speyer as a judicial actuary , in 1854 he was promoted to secretary in the Bavarian Ministry of the Interior, and in 1862 to Munich Police director and in 1866 government director in the government of Swabia .
Pfeufer was the district president of the Rhine Palatinate from 1867 to 1871 and initiated a. a. In 1869 the historical association of the Palatinate was re-established . On August 23, 1871, he was appointed to the cabinet of Friedrich von Hegnenberg-Dux as Bavarian Minister of the Interior . After leaving this office on June 30, 1881, he succeeded Maximilian von Feilitzsch and was President of the Upper Bavarian Government until 1894 .
Sigmund Pfeufer was awarded the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown on December 23, 1867 in the Bavarian knighthood . The elevation to the hereditary Bavarian baron took place on June 24, 1881 with matriculation (entry) in the Kingdom of Bavaria with the baron class on September 17, 1881.
The physician Karl von Pfeufer (1806–1869) was his older half-brother.
