Joseph Hörmann von Hörbach (born December 4, 1778 in Innsbruck , † April 30, 1852 in Munich ) was a Bavarian ministerial official.

origin

The Hörmann von Hörbach are an aristocratic family from Tyrol , with a letter of nobility from Emperor Joseph II for Johann Joseph Hörmann von Hörbach (1719–1796), dated March 11, 1785. He was the grandfather of Joseph Hörmann von Hörbach. The family was entered in the nobility register of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1814.

Career

Joseph Hörmann von Hörbach was born in Innsbruck, the son of Johann Ignaz Hörmann von Hörbach (1750–1810) and his wife Josepha von Lemmen zu Linsingburg (1752–1827). The father Johann Ignaz was chamber procurator, appellate judge and one of the most respected law professors at the University of Innsbruck . He enjoyed the special trust of the then Bavarian government of Tyrol.

When the Bavarians left the country in 1814, their son Joseph Hörmann von Hörbach entered the royal Bavarian service: 1814 Legation Councilor and Senior Justice Councilor in Ulm as well as Finance Commissioner with a special assignment in the Innkreis, 1818 8th Council of the Feudal and Sovereignty Section in the Foreign Ministry and Ministerial Councilor there., 1828 Vice-President and 1831 President of the Court of Appeal of the Isarkkreis in Freising. He was repeatedly entrusted with important missions as counselor to King Max I Joseph . For a long time the official belonged to the "Mainz Central Commission to Investigate Treasonous Activities" , whereby several of his children were born in Mainz and his wife died there.

From May 1840 until his resignation in connection with the Lola Montez affair , he served as the district president of Upper Bavaria until March 1, 1847. He thus retired and was awarded the title of State Councilor in extraordinary service, from May 15, 1850 State Councilor in o. service until his death.

Joseph Hörmann von Hörbach wrote a. a. the book Tyrol under the Bavarian government , published anonymously in 1816.

Joseph Hörmann von Hörbach married Maria Jellenz (1785–1827) from Freiburg im Breisgau in Ulm in 1807 , and after her death on June 26, 1839, Caroline Cramer, widowed Erwig. The following children were born from the first marriage:
